Texas-based delivery contractors, particularly those reliant on Amazon, are leading the wave of closures and layoffs. Two Texas delivery companies eliminated 345 combined positions. Eagles Delivery LLC reported 115 job cuts in Roanoke, Texas, with layoffs effective September 12. 4XH Logistics LLC, an Amazon Delivery Service Partner, is winding down operations after its Amazon contract ended. Gabriel Hilario said "the loss of the Amazon contract resulted in the closure." The shutdown in San Antonio eliminates 230 jobs, with layoffs scheduled from November 6 to November 19.

Job cuts span transportation, logistics, warehousing, and freight-generating manufacturing. Food production and manufacturing firms are also reducing their workforces, which directly impacts freight volumes.
Ruiz Foods announced 176 layoffs at its Dinuba, California, operation. Six workers were laid off between September 2 and September 9, with 170 positions scheduled for elimination on November 4. Ruiz Foods President Kimberli Carroll said "the reductions were necessary to align production capacity with anticipated customer demand." The Dinuba plant, which employs about 1,400 workers, will remain open.
